Friday Feature: 6th Street Design School

Today I'm featuring Kirsten of 6th Street Design School. Her blog was one of the first design blogs I started following and, needless today, it is still one of my daily reads! Kirsten has an amazing eye for style and an ability to put together a design I never could have dreamed of. She was so sweet to answer a few questions I had so read on.

Spring trends you'd like to see in your home this season: Lot's of color! And of course pink is going to play a huge part in design this spring. It's the color of the year after all.

First place you turn to for design inspiration: I turn to lonny, rue and house beautiful as far as magazines. Some of my favorite blogs are:

Favorite part of the design process: My favorite part of the process is anytime a client says , "I love it!" Whether it be a design board, an idea, a product or the finished room. I just hearing those words come out their mouth.

Tips & tricks for shopping on a budget: My biggest tip is to use the "high-low" principle. Spend a lot of money on pillows and fabrics. These things will set the tone for the room. You don't need to buy an insanely expensive couch if you have great pillows. They will lift the whole room!

Advice for making a blog successful: My biggest advice is to be original. I know you hear it all the time but it's really important. Share your own projects and ideas.  No one wants to read about something they've seen somewhere else.

Kirsten has a gorgeous home that shows just how talented she is. Take a look!

Isn't the coffee table amazing? What a statement piece.
I LOVE the mid-century modern pieces she has!
She did stenciling on that wall!

Kirsten has been featured on Studio 5 several times sharing her tips and tricks of design. Her latest segment is all about curtains. Go here to watch.

Thank you, Kirsten, for sharing your talent with us!
